Great news, TPU-LW is now available!
eSUN’s new TPU-LW is now available! As a flexible foamed material, its printed models offer significantly reduced weight, adjustable softness and hardness, and high resilience. It’s suitable for applications in model aircraft, boat models, wearable devices, and COSPLAY.
01 Weight Reduction with a Foaming Volume Ratio Up to 200%
As shown in the figure below, the model printed with TPU-LW weighs significantly less than the one printed with standard TPU, with a weight reduction of about 54%.
This TPU-LW material foams during the printing process. By adjusting the printing temperature and speed, the foaming level can be controlled, with the foaming volume ratio reaching up to 200%. Therefore, compared to standard TPU, the same volume of TPU-LW can print more models, making it more durable for users.
According to tests, 1KG of TPU-LW is equivalent to about 2KG of standard material when printing the same volume of models.
02 Adjustable Softness and Hardness of Models
By adjusting the printing temperature and speed, the foaming level of TPU-LW can be modified. Different foaming ratios result in varying hardness levels, with a range of approximately 93A-77A, allowing users to meet different needs in various applications.
03 High Resilience, Flexible and Durable
TPU-LW offers excellent flexibility, stability in printed models, durability, and resilience. After deformation, it quickly returns to its original shape, making it ideal for use in automotive models, flexible wearable devices, and COSPLAY.
04 Matte Finish, Easy to Paint
Similar to PLA-LW, TPU-LW models have a fine matte finish, with no visible layer lines, excellent paint adhesion, and are easy to paint, making them ideal for creative extensions.
Currently, this material is available in white, black, and gray, and we invite interested users to experience and purchase it.
Friendly Reminder: Due to the foaming effect of lightweight materials under high temperatures, please take note of the following during printing:
- Be sure to disable the retraction function in your slicing software to prevent internal cavities in the print head, which could lead to clogs. Since lightweight TPU foams are in the hot end at high temperatures, retraction has little effect. Stringing during printing is normal, and using vase mode can reduce its impact on the model.
- The foaming ratio is positively correlated with printing temperature. When printing speed is fixed, the higher the temperature, the greater the foaming ratio, so the extrusion rate must be reduced accordingly.
- As it is a flexible TPU material, the printing speed should be reduced during printing.
- Hardness varies with different foaming temperatures and can be adjusted according to the requirements.
The following performance parameters are derived from eSUN’s extensive testing and are provided for reference. If you encounter any issues during printing, feel free to contact us for assistance.
